The Eclectic of Yogyakarta: A Fresh and Modern Office Design

Blending Modernity with Local Identity

The design concept of The Eclectic of Yogyakarta, created by Arkadia Works, brings a fresh and modern aesthetic to Concentrix's new call center in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Inspired by Concentrix's business strategy of global consistency with local intimacy, this design seamlessly blends modern office elements with the cultural heritage of Yogyakarta.

Concentrix, a global business services company specializing in customer engagement and improving business performance, understands the importance of delivering customer experiences in the local language and culture. As part of their business expansion in Indonesia, they sought to create an office space that reflects their commitment to both global standards and local identity.

The Eclectic of Yogyakarta design concept embraces the idea of eclectic interior design, which combines heterogeneous elements to create a unique and harmonious space. In this case, the design team at Arkadia Works incorporated modern office design elements with the cultural heritage of Yogyakarta.

Local materials such as Tegel Kunci, Local Woven Bamboo, and Andesite Stone, the same stone used in Yogyakarta's temples, were utilized to infuse the office with a sense of local identity. The reception table features Andesite Stone, while traditional elements like Tampah, Batik patterns, Woven Bamboo, and Wayang add a touch of Yogyakarta's cultural heritage throughout the space.

The cafeteria, designed with exposed bricks and traditional elements such as lanterns, tampah, rattan baskets, wooden pallets, sacks of rice, plants, and Onthel bicycles, resembles a traditional market. This design choice further immerses employees and visitors in the local culture.

The Concentrix office in Yogyakarta spans a total net space of 1,349 square meters on the second floor of Lippo Mall Plaza. It can accommodate 222 staff members, with an additional 48 seats for training rooms. The office also includes essential supporting spaces such as a lobby, meeting rooms, cafeteria, praying room, medical room, server room, and UPS room.

The Eclectic of Yogyakarta design project was completed between September 5th and November 30th, 2020, at Jalan Laksda Adisucipto No.32-34, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The design team, led by Director Wiza Hidayat, included Senior Interior Designer Adrian Renaldo, Interior Designer Aminah Inoue, Project Manager Ayu Murhadiningtyas, Senior Graphic Designer Fahmi Adi Cahya, and Graphic Designer Tubagus Faisal.

This design project faced the challenge of balancing modern office elements with traditional local elements. The goal was to create a space that exudes a modern atmosphere while incorporating touches of Yogyakarta's traditional culture. The result is an office that successfully blends the two, with a modern aesthetic complemented by traditional elements such as Tampah, Rattan Baskets, Wayang, Onthel Bicycles, and more.

The Eclectic of Yogyakarta design for Concentrix's office in Yogyakarta has received recognition for its excellence. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements, contributing to a better world.
